Some hints found in the PlayStation Network’s API have led to speculation that the Halo franchise could make its way to PlayStation in the future. While Halo has traditionally been Microsoft’s most iconic and Xbox-exclusive series, there are rumours that Master Chief could soon break out of the confines of Xbox hardware and become available on PlayStation as part of a broader platform strategy.
Earlier this year, an insider report claimed that a port of Halo: The Master Chief Collection was in development for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2025, although subsequent rumors cast doubt on this claim. While many Xbox first-party titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have also been made available on PS5 after release as limited-time exclusives, Halo is a different situation. Seeing this iconic franchise, which has been a symbol of Microsoft’s gaming division throughout its history, on a PlayStation or Nintendo console would not only be unexpected, but would also signal a major shift in Xbox’s strategy.
So far there has been no official announcement regarding Halo coming to PlayStation, but dataminer Grunt API believes he has discovered a possible hint. According to a report from Kotaku, he has found what appears to be a Halo title in the data related to retail products in the backend of the PlayStation Network. This discovery could be a sign that a public store page for this mysterious game could go live soon.
New Halo Game Could Be Coming to PlayStation
Sharing the information in a Twitter thread, GruntAPI clarified that this mysterious Halo game is neither Halo: The Master Chief Collection nor a port of Halo Infinite but appears to be a completely new title. Earlier rumors claimed that a modern remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is in development, which could be announced during a Nintendo Direct livestream in late June. Notably, this potential remake did not appear at either the Summer Game Fest or the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase.
There is currently no official confirmation on the development of a Halo remake, much less its launch on a non-Microsoft platform like PlayStation or Nintendo. As such, any rumors of its imminent announcement should be viewed with skepticism for the time being. However, it is worth noting that Xbox titles like Gears of War Remaster coming multiplatform have become more common in recent years. Even though Halo coming to PlayStation was once considered impossible, this possibility cannot be completely ruled out now given the current trends.
