Nearly two years after its launch on PC and consoles, Lies of P has surpassed the three million copies sold mark. The achievement comes as the game’s new DLC is suddenly released in the form of a shadow-drop on June 6, 2025.
South Korean developer Neowiz achieved great success in the gaming world with its dark twist on the classic tale of Pinocchio by launching Lies of P in 2023. Despite being available as a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass, this action-RPG managed to maintain impressive sales rates and managed to sell one million units within a month of launch. Following this initial success, a new expansion called Lies of P: Overture was announced in February 2025, which received positive responses and was successfully released. As expected, the launch of this DLC revived interest in the game and led it to another significant commercial achievement.
In a new announcement, Lies of P has revealed that the game has crossed the three million units sold mark. This achievement has been achieved about 21 months after its launch in September 2023. The title developed by Neowiz had crossed the one million sales milestone by October 2023, which explains why it took more than a year and a half to reach three million. It is also worth mentioning that Lies of P was a Game Pass day-one title and was removed from Xbox’s subscription service only in March 2025, which possibly affected the pace of its direct sales. This is why the number of units sold does not fully reflect the total number of players playing the game, which has exceeded seven million, according to figures announced in March.
Lies of P Crosses 3 Million Copies Sold
Apparently, the recent surge in Lies of P sales has come right after the launch of its much-anticipated DLC, which doesn’t seem to be a result of any coincidence. Lies of P: Overture, which comes with a ton of new content, has significantly boosted player engagement in the original game. On Steam alone, this DLC helped the game break its previous concurrent player record and reach a new peak of 30,095 active players. Additionally, the recent discounts on the base game, which included a 50% reduction on Steam under the latest offer, may have played a key role in further boosting sales of this fantasy title.
With the release of ‘Overture’, fans of Lies of P have once again returned to the mysterious and dark world of Crete, while developer Neowiz is also working fast on the sequel. It is worth noting that plans for a sequel were confirmed just a few weeks after the release of the first game, so it is absolutely reasonable to expect active development at this time. According to Neowiz’s financial report released in early 2025, the sequel is planned to launch during the fiscal year 2026 which will start from April 1, 2026 and run till March 31, 2027.
