Early datamining of version 5.8 has revealed Bennett’s new skin in Genshin Impact, finally giving the beloved 4-star character his much-anticipated Natlan-inspired outfit. Cosmetic items in Genshin Impact are primarily divided into three categories: Gliders, Outfits, and Echoes. While Envied Echoes are locked behind the Imaginarium Theater’s harder challenges, Gliders and Outfits remain relatively more accessible. Version 5.8 will include two new alternate skins, one for Bennett and the other for Yellen, with Yellen’s skin being the second 5-star outfit coming to the game.
Bennett has long proven to be one of the most powerful and versatile 4-star characters in Genshin Impact, especially considering that he launched in version 1.0 of the game. His impressive ATK buffs and healing abilities have made him an indispensable member in many team compositions. Not only that, but HoYoverse didn’t introduce another character who provided utility like Bennett until version 5.5, when Ianson debuted in a similar role. Narratively, too, there has long been speculation that Bennett’s roots might be tied to Natlan. Now it appears that the developers are finally going to give a clear answer to this mystery in version 5.8.
Thanks to Mero and Hiragara, Genshin Impact players can now preview Bennett’s new outfit from every angle on a fully textured model. Two things about this model immediately catch the eye: one, the design is full of elements borrowed from Natlan, and two, Bennett’s distinctive color scheme, which now appears more vibrant. While Yellen’s new skin will be a premium cosmetic, players will be able to unlock Bennett’s outfit for free by participating in version 5.8’s summer event. The summer event will take place on an island called Tenochitzotoc, the same location where the battle between Natlan and Abyss began, and which could potentially also prove to be the site of Mare Jivari.
Genshin Impact: Bennett Gets a Natlanese Makeover in Version 5.8
The community response has been overwhelmingly positive so far, and many players are excited to see Bennett in a more stylish look than his default outfit. Since Bennett is one of the most used healers in Genshin Impact, this new skin will prove to be beneficial not only aesthetically but also in terms of popularity. On a narrative level too, the annual summer events have always been an opportunity for the Hoyoverse to further develop their characters beyond the Arcane Quest. For instance, the Simulanka event expanded the Wanderer’s emotional arc and re-told Durin’s story. Likewise, version 5.8 could also be a turning point for Bennett, especially if he is given the opportunity to establish deeper relationships with other Natlan characters.
Apart from the new skins for Yellen and Bennett, version 5.8 is also expected to include Inefa, a 5-star Electro polearm user who will be the first character to come from Nod-Cry. Although she has no direct synergy with Bennett, Inefa is specifically designed with an electro-charged reaction in mind. This trait could make her a great teammate for Hydro characters like Yellen. This much-awaited version 5.8 update of Genshin Impact is set to launch on July 30, 2025.
