It’s now official, the infamous animatronic villain Springtrap from the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise has made a blazing entry in the asymmetric horror game Dead by Daylight. Players can now play as this fearsome killer known as ‘The Yellow Rabbit’. Dead by Daylight, which first launched in 2016, is famous for its one vs four multiplayer style, where one player takes on the role of an iconic horror killer and hunts down up to four survivors.
Developer Behaviour Interactive announced in May that Dead by Daylight was collaborating with the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Along with this, news also surfaced of another much-anticipated collaboration with CD Projekt’s The Witcher game series. Created by Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy’s started out as a simple survival horror game in which players take on the role of a night guard at Freddy Fazbear’s pizza restaurant and escape the murderous animatronics. Over time, the concept became so popular that it spawned multiple video game sequels, novels, and even a successful film adaptation.
An announcement made on Twitter by the official Dead by Daylight account confirmed that Springtrap is now available as a playable killer as part of the much-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter. With the ability to throw projectiles and rich lore, ‘The Animatronic’ definitely offers players an exciting and challenging experience. This new chapter also includes exclusive items like the ‘Stack of Pizza’ badge and the ‘Vent Crawl’ banner. The Dead by Daylight version of Springtrap features several perks and add-ons that benefit the killer, most notably his exclusive ‘Phantom Fear’ perk. So far, this content has been well received by the community.
Dead by Daylight Adds Five Nights at Freddy’s Springtrap as a Playable Killer
The animatronic’s special power called ‘Fazbear’s Fright’ in Dead by Daylight has generated a lot of excitement among fans of both FNAF and DbD. Players are hoping that there won’t be much delay in matchmaking queues despite the popularity of the new chapter. Many users on Twitter praised the FNAF chapter trailer, calling Springtrap’s arrival ‘absolute cinema’, making the collaboration’s cultural resonance even deeper.
After the exciting start of Five Nights at Freddy’s, Dead by Daylight is hinting at another big horror crossover. According to recent leaks, the upcoming November chapter could include content from Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8. This alleged chapter will introduce Jack Baker as a new killer, while Ethan and Rosemary Winters will join as the surviving characters. Although this information should be taken with a grain of salt as it has not yet been officially confirmed, it is certain that Dead by Daylight’s horror crossover streak has become one of its biggest strengths in the gaming world. The present time is certainly exciting for horror lovers and gamers.
