Splitgate 2 Adding Popular Features From Original Game

Splitgate 2 developer 1047 Games has recently revealed what key priorities the studio is focusing on while developing the sequel shooter, as well as confirming the return of two popular features from the first game. Splitgate 2 is a free-to-play first-person shooter, a successor to the original Splitgate which came out in 2019. The game uses portal mechanics to allow players to quickly travel between two locations on the map and launch strategic attacks on enemies. It includes popular game modes like the round-based Team Deathmatch and the King of the Hill-like Hot Zone mode.

Splitgate 2 saw impressive player growth following its beta release back in May 2025, where ardent fans of the series got to experience 25 weapons, 15 maps, and 10 game modes. The sequel then launched in full in early June, now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Splitgate 2 is designed as a live-service game, with new content added at regular intervals, keeping its gameplay fresh and competitive.

In a recent post on Splitgate 2’s official Twitter account, the development team updated the community on some of the game’s key priorities, specifically the addition of the surprise Battle Royale mode that was introduced shortly after launch. The team is currently working on fixing bugs that prevent players from earning daily and weekly progress, while also focusing on reducing the Battle Royale mode’s loading times and improving overall performance. However, what’s most notable in the post is that two popular features from the first game—Mastery Challenges and Ranked Arena—are currently under development. Mastery Challenges will allow players to unlock special camos for weapons, which has long been a demand from the community, while the Ranked Arena mode will give players a solid reason to grind competitively.

Fans responded enthusiastically when they saw that the developers were working on additional features. One user took the initiative by asking if there were plans for a ranking system for the battle royale mode, to which the developer replied in the affirmative. While several new features were confirmed, some players immediately started demanding more features, such as a ‘Barracks’ section to view career stats, which the studio clarified was also in the works. Developers actively responding to player suggestions is not only encouraging for the community, but it also creates a positive atmosphere amid the recent criticism of Splitgate 2’s battle royale microtransactions.

Fans of the shooter game were disappointed to see the high prices of microtransactions in the battle royale mode, especially when the prices of some cosmetic packs and bundles reached $140. In response to this controversy, Splitgate 2 CEO Ian Proulx took the community’s concerns seriously and issued refunds to affected players. In addition, 1047 Games took the positive step of reducing the prices of all initial microtransactions by 50%, making it clear that the studio values the player community’s feedback.
