Rumor: Persona 4 Remake Could Be Revealed This Weekend

The long-rumored Persona 4 remake could finally be officially revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8. Several hints and leaks related to the project have surfaced online in recent weeks, raising fans’ expectations even more. Released in 2008, Persona 4 is still considered one of the most beloved entries in the JRPG franchise, and confirmation of its remake has been eagerly awaited.

After the massive success of Persona 3 Reload in 2024, fans of Atlus’ popular series are now expecting to see Persona 4 with similar graphical makeover and technical improvements. In April, in keeping with previous experiences where Atlus has been updating its websites ahead of major announcements, a web domain change linked to Persona 4 Remake was spotted. That same month, well-known Microsoft leaker Extas1s claimed that the much-anticipated project would be formally revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Now, as the showcase date approaches, hints have started to emerge that strengthen this claim even more.

As reported by MP1st, a source with insider knowledge of the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase has confirmed that the Persona 4 Remake will be unveiled during the event on June 8. The title is reported to be releasing on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms, although it is currently unclear if any launch plans are made for the Nintendo Switch 2. The news isn’t too surprising, as Persona 3 Reload also debuted at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. Last week, remake rumors gained further traction when three of Persona 4’s original voice actors revealed on social media that they have not been asked back for any new projects.

The Persona 4 Remake May Be Revealed During Sunday’s 2025 Xbox Games Showcase

Persona 3 Reload proved to be a huge success for Atlus, selling one million units in its first week and becoming the fastest-selling game in the series to date. Following this success, rumors of other Persona remakes emerged earlier in the year, including possible plans by the studio to remaster Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. These versions could include ‘quality of life’ updates such as new translations and gameplay improvements. However, no official information has yet been revealed regarding Persona 6, and Atlus has yet to comment on the highly anticipated sequel.

The Western release of Persona 5: The Phantom Axe was confirmed in May, and the gacha-based free-to-play title is set to launch on PC and mobile devices on June 26. The game gives players the opportunity to once again become part of the Phantom Thieves, where they live a normal student life by day and participate in strategic turn-based battles by night.
