Donkey Kong Bananza Confirms Helpful Feature

A new feature has recently been confirmed for Donkey Kong Bananza that will make it easier than ever for players to explore and interact with the game’s destructible environments. The feature will allow players to easily reset any destroyed terrain. After Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Nintendo’s beloved character returns with his first major solo campaign on July 17, and the new title promises to breathe new life into the franchise. In Donkey Kong Bananza, DK teams up with young Pauline to explore the underground world of Ingot Isle in search of a treasure trove of mystical Banandium gems.

During his journey, DK will have to rely on his immense strength to overcome enemies and obstacles. Donkey Kong Bananza will also give players the unique freedom to destroy the soil beneath the ground. DK can create tunnels in the ground with his dive punch, tear off pieces of the ground and throw them at enemies or use them as a boost when jumping. What’s more, he can also create temporary bridges and stairs by sticking soft soil to hard rock walls, a feature that is already being compared to 2023’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

It’s true that even Donkey Kong can make mistakes sometimes but luckily, Donkey Kong Bananza lets players undo almost every interaction made with the environment. According to the official Nintendo UK Twitter account, players can restore the surrounding terrain from the game’s map screen whether it’s to correct a mistake or just for the fun of destroying mud and rocks again. A short video was also shared with the announcement, which shows DK turning a nearby hill into rubble, giving a glimpse of this new feature.

Donkey Kong Bananza Lets Players Reset Destroyed Terrain

Destruction and deep interaction with the environment appear to be central elements of Donkey Kong Bananza’s gameplay, and that’s entirely appropriate, as the game’s story revolves around a mission to descend into the depths of an underground world and reach the center of the planet. There Pauline hopes to find a way to return to the surface world. While there is currently no official online demo of Donkey Kong Bananza available for players, some retailers have reportedly offered it as a trial at their Switch 2 kiosks.

The release of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17 is not far away, and fans have been excited for Donkey Kong’s new adventure since last week’s highly anticipated Nintendo Direct livestream. Just like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this new title will give players the freedom to explore a huge, open world on their own terms. It’s now also confirmed that if DK goes a little too far while smashing rocks and hills with his powerful fists, players will be able to reset the destruction. This feature gives the game an even more controlled and creative feel.
