The developer of REPO has revealed plans for a major update coming soon, which will include upgrades, new maps, music, and many other features. Recently, the developer answered 50 questions sent in by players, sharing not only a glimpse of what’s new for REPO in this upcoming update, but also future patches and development plans.
REPO, a multiplayer co-op survival horror game developed by Semiworks, launched on Steam Early Access on February 26, 2025. The game became an instant hit after launch due to its fun and exciting gameplay. Players team up with up to six other teammates and descend into terrifying, procedurally generated environments where they must find and deliver physics-based objects such as pianos or ceramics to a truck-based extraction point while facing 19 types of enemies and other dangerous obstacles. REPO’s proximity voice chat feature encourages players to coordinate in real time, but this feature also poses an additional danger as speaking in certain circumstances can cause enemies to detect your presence. Now, the developer is planning a major update with new features, maps, music, and improvements to make this experience even better.
During Semiwork’s recent Q&A video, the developer answered a number of important questions related to REPO’s upcoming content, including the game’s lore and general questions. A total of 50 different questions were answered in this session, with the developer also hinting that the next major update will be released ‘soon, very soon’ although he did not share an exact timeline. Semiwork also clarified that this Q&A will be the final session before the update’s release, indicating that players can expect more information soon.
REPO’s Upcoming Update Adds Upgrades, Maps, Weapons, and More
As one of the new features coming to REPO, the developer has shared plans to upgrade older maps so that they can reach the new ‘Museum’ level standards. The Museum map will now include advanced security systems such as laser alarms, and the developer has also hinted that laser security modules will introduce a new challenge to the game. Apart from this, Semiwork has confirmed that more new areas will be added to the game after the Museum. Also, the Museum map will include some new outdoor areas as well although these elements will not be part of this upcoming update but will be included in future updates.
In addition, the developer has confirmed several new features in REPO, including upgrades for trains, a brand new soundtrack for the Museum map, and several new weapons. A major feature of this update is the ‘Public Matchmaking/Server List’, which will allow players to find and connect with open lobbies. This new feature is being introduced with the aim of making the gameplay experience more accessible and social, and will launch alongside the update.
Apart from all these announcements, Semiworks has also given a glimpse of some of the features that the team is working on for future updates. These include new monsters (although the balance of existing monsters will also be changed in this update), co-op based puzzles, challenge rooms, and other exciting elements. The developer also hinted that it wants to add items like ‘instruments’ or ‘noisemakers’ in the future, but this will require implementing anti-trolling security measures in public lobbies.
